A Legacy of Lighting Lamps, Not Just Degrees
Founded by the visionary philanthropist Kulapathi Sri A.P.C. Veerabahu, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women was born of a single belief — that educating a girl uplifts an entire community. For over five decades, the college has carried first-generation learners from the coastal villages of Thoothukudi into classrooms, laboratories and leadership.
Affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, the institution blends academic rigour with the timeless values of Tamil culture — character, discipline and courage.

The Founding
Kulapathi Sri A.P.C. Veerabahu establishes the college, opening the doors of higher education to the daughters of Thoothukudi's villages.
1979
Science Awakens
The Chemistry department and its laboratories begin — the campus' first step into experimental science.
1985
Commerce Wing
B.Com. is introduced, preparing young women for banking, accounting and business careers.
1994
The Computer Era
Computer Science arrives with a brand-new computing centre — APCians enter the digital age early.

PG Expansion
M.Sc., M.Com. and M.A. programmes launch, letting students complete their masters in their hometown.
